Facebook Login Problems: Can’t Log into Facebook
Everyone runs into login problems at some point, whether it’s with Facebook or some other site. Don’t panic if – or when – this happens to you. The cause may be quite ordinary, such as a misspelled password.
If you suspect your account may have been compromised but are able to access it again, change your password immediately. Also update your Facebook account info such as your email and phone number to make sure no one else is able to access your account through them.
Following are some common reasons you may have problems logging in to Facebook.
Facebook Login Problem Solution #1: Make Sure CAPS Lock Is Off
This is perhaps the most common reason that logins fail, besides simply forgetting the password.
- Look on the right side of your keyboard, above the numeric keypad.
- Check if the light for “Caps Lock” is turned on. If so, hit the Caps Lock button on the left to turn it off.
- Type your password again and see if that works.
Facebook Login Problem Solution #2: Log Out Another User
If you go to Facebook and discover that another user is logged in, the right thing to do is to sign out of that account first, and then log in with yours.
- Click the menu arrow at the top-right of the Facebook page.
- Click Log Out.
- Now log in to your account like normal.
Is Facebook Blocked?
If Facebook is blocked on the computer you are trying to access it from, you should see an error message stating this. If you blocked it yourself with an admin password, enter the password and remove Facebook’s URL(s) from the blocked list. However if you do not have admin privileges, you won’t be able to unblock Facebook this way. Some people use Facebook proxies. but I’d never use them myself.
For other ways to log into Facebook, you might:
- Try entering Facebook’s IP address instead
- Check your email for Facebook notifications
- Try an alternative Facebook URL (make sure it’s genuine, like m.facebook.com)
- Just use another computer where isn’t blocked
Facebook Login Problem Solution #3: Check Your Facebook Login Information
Are you trying to log in to Facebook with outdated info?
- If logging in with an email address, make sure it is one associated with your Facebook account
- If logging in with a mobile phone number, make sure it is listed in your contact information in your profile (not a good idea to put this on Facebook, but if you did, make sure you use the right one)
- Retype your password
Reset Your Password
If all else fails, change your password.
- Click Forgot your password? on the Facebook welcome page.
- Choose your preferred method to reset your password.
- Get the password reset confirmation and create your new password.
- Log in to Facebook with the new password.
Facebook Login Problem Solution #4: Check Your Spelling
Sometimes you just misspell your user credentials, such as your Facebook username. Or if the keyboard is old and worn, some letters may be difficult to type.
- Double-check your spelling.
- Since passwords aren’t displayed, type it in a blank text document, say in Notepad, and then copy it to the password field. (Don’t do this when it’s possible someone may be looking over your shoulder.)
- Make sure CAPS LOCK is off.

Facebook Login Problem Solution #5: Check Your Internet Connection
If your ISP is down, you won’t be able to connect to Facebook or any other website. Check your connection to make sure it is working properly. In Windows 7, click the Internet access shortcut on the system tray if you see it. Or go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing > View network status and tasks.
